Addon development?

Post by Verse » August 2nd, 2015, 11:52 pm

Addons have been a quite popular thing in most modern MMORPG's for better or for worse. It's quite an entertaining idea as well to have as much efficiency as possible like damage tools.

For example World of Warcraft entertains the idea of LUA scripting for addons etc.

Is there a possibility of development kit tools being released for a game of this caliber? If we're looking at Ragnarok Online as an example, i'm sure many players can compare to using things such as RCX etc.

This is something we'll be looking into more deeply as the game nears (TBA)OBT. If they do allow mod support then that's awesome but I'm not holding my breath.

This strongly depends on IMC's preferences. I remember that Aion would have been a great candidate for Addons, but devs didn't want to allow them

They should monitor things closely or there might be some game breakers.

Example would be something like telegraphed moves which will render the oracle class useless.

I believe Steam will check file integrity every time the game is launched and re-download any modified files. If there is going to be add-on support I think the developers will have to implement some native way to handle it. Does anyone know how to contact the people who made ipf-suite? I have some questions for them on this issue.

Looks like I was right, but its the client and not steam. :wah: I tried changing the mouse cursor texture in ui.ipf and I got it to show up once but it tried to download all 200MB of ui.ipf every time I launched it and it would crash every time until I deleted it and let it download fresh.
