Screen Capture Program

Post by Noctureon » August 3rd, 2015, 2:32 am

So I was expecting to use Windows 10's Xbox DVR to record bits of gameplay and manage screenshots (without having to paste each one to paint or PS every single time.) Was also planning to gif the released videos via screencap. But things broke and I had to disable Cortana, Xbox and multiple other things I was planning to use on the CBT.

So I was wondering what programs you guys use to capture gameplay and manage screenshots? That would be extremely useful for CBT and getting information.

I recommend https://obsproject.com/. Records or streams, both if you want.

At best you can use something like OBS for local recording, but I don't really quite like it as sometimes the file becomes corrupted for strange reasons. You can try using Fraps to record gameplay and then use something as a base like Sharex to take screenshots which sends to one of the image sites of your choice (imgur as an example). You can also use something like Puush to take screenshots as well.

OBS and Sharex look promising. I'll test them out tomorrow
Thank you guys! :kis:

Can recommend DXtory as well, before I switched to XSplit ( got gifted a license) I used that + OBS.

For PC Capture I usually use Fraps, although Fraps has the drawback that it doesn't compress the files, so if you record a few hours of gameplay you easily end up with multiple hundreds of GB, and further processing of those files is very taxing on memory and somewhat slow. On the other hand, Fraps can record in nearly lossless quality and records windows-sound and mic at the same time.

For screenshot I'd recommend https://app.prntscr.com/es/index.html
For video, OBS https://obsproject.com/ as you were told before.
