Mabinogi Players

Post by Noctureon » July 30th, 2015, 2:50 pm

I was wondering how many of you played Mabi? There seems to be quite a few.

What's your server and ign?

I'm Kryztfr from Mari. I'm an Herbalist and Potion Maker by trade and an Alchemist and Swordsman hybrid for combat.

IGN: Icystare - Ruairi - 7̶k̶ Mage/Gunner

I've stopped playing after The Saga:Iria II as I generally lost interest due to the small amount of things to do after that. But during the time I did play I mostly spent time in Dunby and transcribed MMLs for a 5-7 people band.

Edit: 4k Mage/Gunner not 7k

Now that I look at it, your name sounds extremely familiar. It couldn't have been ingame since we're on different servers...

Were you active in any fansites? MabinogiPlayer, perhaps? Ran by Substance in the early gens?

Or maybe I've seen it in passing in one of the other sites..

You might've seen me around Mabination on occasion. I was on a bunch of older ones but those eventually just died out or was abandoned due to issues with admins.

I played Mabi way way back in the day and I had a lot of fun with it. But eventually when I came back to it, there was so much tutorial time. And then the crushing defeats that I used to experience were crushed out by some sort of Beginners handicapand I could one shot everything while taking no damage.

I was actually very confused as to when this beginners handicap would stop, plus no one was online in the low level areas (they're probably easier to get out of now) and no one was talking or partying. Back when I played there was always a group of various levels chilling outside the newbie dungeon and chatting, welcoming new people to join them in their group. (I was usually part of that party.)

Now without that, I just can't get back into it. Was I Part of the wrong server or something? What was with that easy beginning? I'm really curious if the game changed alot or my memory is bad or if it's just gotten less popular...

Yeah.. these young'uns have it easy. Nexon dumbed down the beginning of the game for them, giving them all sorts of advantages. I remember back in the original G1, after I finished the boss dungeon, I actually felt, in real life, PHYSICAL exhaustion. Me and my cousins who ran it with me were actually drained and tired and felt like we just saved the world in real life.

Now there are shortcuts :swt:

And I remember that time too! Alby and Ciar was full to the brim of people wanting to play together, chat, hang out, make friends... Now everybody's doing their own things.

Also dyes were 8k a piece back then, not hundreds of thousands.

I use to play very actively pretty early in the game's lifespan, and sometimes hop on occasionally now.

Usually on Alexnia. I have too many alts and mains to name them all. xD I think my current main is...Altaireis?

I really miss those days. That's when the game was most fun I'm. I liked all the new stuff but it just wasn't the same. Maybe because parties water harder to find.
