[M]onk with Long Hair!

Post by Fleece » August 22nd, 2015, 6:29 am

So, I was messing with the character models and textures on Blender when a sudden stroke of inspiration hit me. A handful of adjustments later, here's the result :D

Yep @IPF Suite!

Only issues I've had with the files is that I'm missing the models for the male hairs :sob:

Also, from the side the head (and hair!) appear as lines. This is because they aren't rendered in 3D. RIP them angled shots :c

How did you open the .xac files /or open them in blender? i tried finding a way and could not seem to get there.

after along while on trying again i finally am able to after a few processes ; @; but i have no idea how to use blender so i imported them into cinema 4d. i have no idea how to get the heads / hair though.
and from what your saying they are just 2d anyways? so maybe ill just model my own head :hmm: or try 2.

@Ink: I'm using blender 2.4.7 to open the .xac files. There's a script I found online on the Xentak(?) forums that I used to import said files since blender does not natively support .xac and .xsm files.

As for flat heads...it's a little hard to explain properly. Here's a screenshot instead c:

Hello here ! Fleece, I ask help on Xentak too, as we are currently working on a "cosmetic" (chara) simulator ( TOS France, I dunno if I can link my own sit here even if it's not for advertising : link in TOSBase footer ).

We try to obtain a .obj file we could use. Actualy, wealready have exctracted full faces, haircuts and hats, however I can't hide that we get a bit lost with 3D use. We tried to extract from hexadecimal files, without great success.

I would be glad to work arround with someone able to help us about this, to propose a fully complete chara-simulator, obviouly crediting the people able to extract texturised model from .xac to .obj files !

Hope you would accepte to bring you your help,

Nialcen :)

@Niaclcen:
:sry: I actually am a complete noob with 3D modeling. I was only interested because I needed hair/body references for my doodles! I will try and help because I always take hours customizing my characters, but I won't make any promises on delivery ;w;

@Ahoryu:
I just want to help you out a little bit, since it took me a while to figure this out ;w;

When you're modeling the hair and faces for other characters, place the .dds file with the .xac file. Blender will pull the texture from the same folder and if it's missing it's a PITA to try and add another texture. hope this bit is understandable/helpful!

Glorious! Any chance to get Gabija or Vakarine models too? (I-its not that I like her twin-tails or her tsun-tsun demeanor or anything..!) :heh:

Gabija:

Her model was a bit weird since the animation brings all the hair to the front and idk how to animate hair yet.

Thanks for the tip Fleece, i'm a complet noob with 3D too ^^
It's the 1st time i use Blender and i don't exactly know how it works. If you have more tips or a tutorial that can help, it would be awesome.
As you may have seen on the official forum, i'm working on a Char-simulator with Nialcen and the 3D models will improve its quality.
(http://www.tree-of-savior.fr/simulateur-de-personnage/)

For now, i've done head, hair and accessories based on textures but i obviously prefer to be able to take them from 3D models.

I'm not quite sure what you meant by that - what did you mean by extract a player costume?

That's pretty cool! I rarely venture out of the ToSBase and the iToS forums, so it's the first time I've seen that simulator xD

I don't exactly have a tutorial on how to use Blender, since the last big project I used it on was for video editing not modeling.

Another FYI - heads don't rotate with the body (see example above again ;w; ), but it does show all angles. See here for example:

With body facing front (because head/hair shows up properly)

Same as above with body model hidden
