Re: Private Servers When?

If you think that companies are made of saints then I'm the one sorry for you. Plus, RO was already an old game 10 years ago, no wonder it won't make any profit 2 years ago :hmm: Age has nothing to do with a game's success, especially MMOs. Just look at WoW. If a game is properly supported, age is ...

Re: Private Servers When?

Private servers killed Ragnarok's longevity. Imagine all those players on private servers on public servers, we would've gotten proper servers ages ago as well as a proper sequel instead of what they call "RO2". You can't stop people from trying to reverse engineering the game. If you thought priva...

Re: Linearity of progress is a huge letdown.

I think the main problem here is purpose. If you have freedom, but nothing feels like it has true consequence, then people will not bother. Themepark games have the purpose all laid out for you, from the beginning till the very end. A good sandbox has multiple purposes and only shows you what COULD ...

Re: Linearity of progress is a huge letdown.

I just want to point out, since I think some people might be confused: I don't complain about the grind. I love the grind. I have countless max level characters in both the original Ragnarok as well as high level characters in Renewal(though I stopped due to the reason I pointed out earlier), I've p...

Re: Linearity of progress is a huge letdown.

@Fayte: The linearity stems from the fact that you pretty much go the same route with every class and every "playthrough". You cannot change how or where you progress and it's guided from the game. As I wrote in my post so far I'm just 60 so far but have explored the map a bit more than that and try...

Re: Linearity of progress is a huge letdown.

I don't know when have you been playing RO but I need to tell you that things sometimes seem better in memory. I'm a recent iRO player and I have enjoyed it very much. But I don't think the map design in RO is anything good now. Most RO maps are left unvisted, and I think you might have the frustra...

Linearity of progress is a huge letdown.

Disclaimer: This is merely an opinion! tl;dr: Maps are just tubes, not a world feeling alive. Progress is extremely linear and feels like any "cheapo free to play" MMO. This taints an otherwise great and fun combat/class system. It certainly feels like a game that carries some of the spirit that Rag...

I think I remember you from ArcheAge. Were you active on official forums? Or perhaps korean version?

Oh well, might as well try. Would love a key, would be streaming it for the community as well :) Also expect a huge-ass post on the game/wiki edits if I get lucky.

Re: Ragnarok Online 1 in 3D & mobile

It's a chinese game and mobile on top of that, I highly doubt it's well-designed. Probably trying to milk money with the name. I would be REALLY surprised if it was any different. I mean even if we say it doesn't matter it's a chinese game, it's still a mobile title and there are very few mobile tit...

Re: Best MMO Features

While I agree that tiered crafting is great, I think your example is off. ArcheAge did have tiered crafting, but for completely different reasons. Low level items are extremely cheap there compared to the higher tiered ones and not really relevant at all. The only thing that was relevant was buying...

For everyone already using Windows 10, I highly recommend working through this guide:

Re: Competing fansites

There alwas have been competing fansites of the same language as everyone wants to be able to say "I own the biggest fansite... " etc. Before ArcheAge turned shit we actually tried to bring together the french/english/german community fansites and have them work on a joint database/wiki, was no prob...

Re: Best MMO Features

Tiered Crafting (ArcheAge) This requires you to craft items of a lower tier in order to make the next level of items. It's like needing to craft a Lvl 5 Want and use it as a material for the Lvl 10 Staff. This keeps lower tier items relevant even if the majority of the community is way into the lat...
